More International Opportunities While Working at SRRSH

          By Luo Feng

When you come to the Anesthesiology Department at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, you will find some differences than with other hospitals. The most unusual thing for a Chinese hospital is that the chart is written in English, so that some doctors for continuing education can't read it. Why do they write the chart in English? I can tell you some secrets.

SRRSH is a nonprofit medical practice with an international background. The famous producer Sir Run Run Shaw from Hong Kong not only donated money for founding the hospital, but he also introduced an American hospital, Loma Linda University Medical Center, to help this young hospital. At the beginning, many American specialists came to this hospital including administrators and medical specialists. They talked to Chinese doctors with English. Many medical papers are copied from Loma Linda, so the anesthesiology chart was written in English.

Not only do our medical papers contain more English words, but the staff also has more international opportunities. There are many international programs to take advantage of while working at SRRSH. Many staff members have been to Loma Linda University Medical Center in America to study since the founding of SRRSH. There they acquire new knowledge and technology and improve their English. This program is still running, and more than 10 doctors have opportunities to study there every year. Recently more and more international programs have been added for even more opportunities in hospitals like Australia’s Cabrini Health, Japan’s Shizuoka Hospital, Germany’s University of Essen Hospital, and so on. The staff can select programs that they are interested in and go study there. So many of the staff at SRRSH have advanced knowledge and excellent English levels. It is easy for them to interact with foreign specialists. I have been to Australia and Germany to study. I improved my English levels and renewed my medical knowledge. It was helpful for me.

So if you have a dream of becoming an international specialist, you can join the family at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital.
