One of our notable achievements has been in the field of female fertility preservation in gynecologic surgery, using both early intervention and a minimally invasive approach. We have also been able to use a combined approach of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery with assisted reproductive technology to treat infertility. The minimally invasive technique is a successful innovation project, discussed by the Zhejiang Health and Family Commission in 2011. The technique has few complications and excellent treatment results, which have been acknowledged by both staff and patients. In 2010, the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, of Sir Run Run Shaw hospital, was approved by the National Health and Planning Commission, to become a level 4 training center for endoscopic surgery.

The Reproductive Center of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital

Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital Reproductive Medical Center was established in 1998. It is one of the earliest departments to carry out assisted reproductive technology in Zhejiang Province, and was approved by the National Health and Family Planning Commission in 2005. The department began to trial an operation involving in-vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) and single sperm intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and was officially certified in 2006. The Reproductive Medical Center is inspected once every two years. Each inspection is run by experts in the field, and has received favorable credits. The inspection confirms the quality and safety of assisted reproductive technology, the incidence of complications, and multiple pregnancy rate control. At present, there are 5000 IVF cycles per year. The clinical pregnancy rate is about 60% per embryo transfer, and cumulative pregnancy rate is approximately 75% per person, which is in the nation’s leading status in the field. Artificial insemination by donor (AID) technology was approved for trial operation in 2014 and began formally operating in October 2015, from which 200 patients receive help every year. In 2014 the reproductive center gained the international QHA quality control certification, which marks the quality and safety management of the reproductive center, which is recognized at an international standard.
