International Advanced Training Program on Robotic Surgical System Technology

Introduction to the Hospital's Robotic Surgery Training Center

Adhering to the principles of "Differentiated Development, Precision Diagnosis and Treatment, Problem-Oriented Approach, and Interdisciplinary Integration," Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, was a pioneer in introducing and promoting minimally invasive surgical techniques, leading the development of laparoscopic surgery in China. Minimally invasive techniques cover most surgical fields, with laparoscopic and robotic surgeries accounting for 80% of the total. The hospital possesses several internationally and domestically pioneering techniques, such as the Totally Laparoscopic ALPPS procedure (Cai's ALPPS) and fully desensitized surgery using wearable devices. The hospital hosts the only "Minimally Invasive Medicine" doctoral program in China, and its English-language minimally invasive journal has been selected for the Excellence Action Plan for China's STM Journals. In the field of robotic minimally invasive surgery, the hospital routinely performs complex procedures in hepatobiliary, colorectal, urology, gynecology, and other specialties, with techniques like pancreatoduodenectomy combined with inferior vena cava resection being at the forefront. The hospital ranked among the national leaders in single-unit robotic surgery volume from 2021 to 2022 and successfully performed China's first 5G ultra-remote robotic hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgery. The hospital's Robotic Surgery Training Center integrates resources from the Minimally Invasive Surgery Training Center, General Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Urology, Gynecology, Thoracic Surgery, and the Operating Room, providing subspecialty robotic surgery training covering hepatobiliary-pancreatic, gastrointestinal, urological, gynecological, and thoracic surgery.
