The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at SRRSH is a clinical medical department that seamlessly integrates medical treatment, scientific research, and education. It boasts a comprehensive array of specialized clinics, offering a broad spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic services. These encompass TCM gynecology, TCM spleen and stomach disorders, TCM oncology, TCM pancreatitis, traditional therapies, TCM andrology, as well as combined clinics focusing on women's health, anti-aging, and preventive medicine. The department employs a variety of clinical treatment modalities, such as oral administration, enemas, external applications, herbal steaming, acupoint application, auricular point bean-pressing, acupuncture, TCM constitution differentiation, dietary regulation, exercise therapy, lifestyle adjustments, and emotional regulation within TCM. Furthermore, the department places significant emphasis on multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration, engaging in profound cooperation with pertinent departments at Zhejiang University. In-depth exploration and extensive research have been conducted in areas such as biologics, traditional medicines, functional foods for the treatment of sub-health conditions, and preventive healthcare. In terms of education, the department has long held the responsibility of instructing medical students in five-year, "5+3" integrated, and eight-year programs, as well as international students at Zhejiang University School of Medicine in TCM. The "Traditional Chinese Medicine" course has garnered widespread acclaim from students and has been acknowledged as a first-class undergraduate course by Zhejiang University.

The members of the department are adept at facilitating postoperative cancer recovery through TCM, enhancing patients' physical well-being post-chemotherapy, and offering individualized long-term treatments that integrate TCM with Western medicine. Additionally, they specialize in alleviating chemotherapy-induced hand-foot syndrome using TCM external therapies. These interventions have notably improved patients' survival outcomes and provided guidance on maintaining health.
(2)Digestive Disease Management
In the management of chronic gastritis, indigestion, reflux esophagitis, chronic enteritis, and constipation, a synergistic approach combining TCM with Western medical practices is employed, tailored to each patient's unique needs. Grounded in the principles of TCM, patients receive personalized guidance on dietary modifications and health maintenance strategies to facilitate their healing process.
(3)Postoperative rehabilitation
Proficient in the holistic approach of combining external and internal TCM therapies, our department's practitioners are adept at employing a range of comprehensive techniques. These include oral administration, topical applications, acupoint therapy, and auricular point bean pressure, to foster the swift restoration of gastrointestinal function, enhance sleep quality, and support the early rehabilitation of patients following surgery.
(4)Menstruation Regulation and Pregnancy Assistance
The team boasts extensive expertise in gynecology, specializing in menstrual disorders, abnormal uterine bleeding, menopausal symptoms, postpartum conditions, and providing supportive care for post-reproductive needs, including pregnancy support and fertility enhancement. They adeptly integrate TCM with Western medical practices to achieve comprehensive regulation and enhance women's overall health.
(5)Characteristic External Treatment of TCM
The team members are proficient in employing specialized diagnostic and therapeutic methods, including auricular point bean-pressing, acupoint application, and acupuncture. Techniques such as auricular point bean-pressing and acupoint application are effectively used to address conditions like insomnia, gastrointestinal disorders, and dysmenorrhea, as well as to enhance the recovery of gastrointestinal function post-surgery. These methods are characterized by their simplicity, convenience, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness, and have earned significant therapeutic recognition from patients. Acupuncture therapy is primarily utilized for managing prevalent andrological conditions, including sexual dysfunction and prostatitis.

The Department of TCM synergizes the conceptual framework of TCM with contemporary medical paradigms, harnessing the strengths of TCM without being constrained by tradition. It persistently seeks opportunities to integrate with contemporary medical technologies, aiming to achieve innovative advancements. Over the past few years, the department has led a provincial-level project and published seven papers, two of which have been indexed by SCI.
