Biographical sketch

Dr. HONG Deifei graduated from Zhejiang Medical University in 1992 and obtained his PhD in surgery from Zhejiang University in 2002. He has devoted himself to general surgery for over 30 years, with a particular focus on hepatopancreatobiliary surgery research. The implementation of Dr. Hong's pancreaticoenteric anastomosis can significantly reduce the incidence of postoperative pancreatic fistula. The invention of percutaneous microwave ablation liver partition and portal vein embolization(PAPPL) can serve as a partial alternative to liver transplantation in the treatment of advanced liver cancer. He has edited and co-authored 18 monographs on hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and published in excess of 150 papers. He had been responsible for 6 national and provincial medical research projects. Dr. Hong's monograph Clinical Research and Application of Laparoscopic Technique in Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic and Splenic Surgery won the second prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award. He had been invited as a visiting scholar by renowned international hospitals, including Johns Hopkins Hospital in the United States and the University of Tokyo Hospital in Japan.

The internationally pioneering treatment scheme combining chemotherapy with traditional Chinese medicine proposed by Dr. Hong is considered one of the most effective current treatment strategies for pancreatic cancer. He was conferred the title of Chief Expert in Pancreatic Cancer at Shanghai Mengchao Cancer Medical Center by Dr. WU Mengchao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments in pancreatic cancer. He has been invited to provide consultations on complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeries in over 130 hospitals across 30 provinces and cities.
