Biographical sketch
From 1986 to 2023, Dr. SHAO Wanjin served as a Senior Consultant in the Anorectal Surgery Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine). From 2023 to 2025, he worked as Chief Expert at Shenzhen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for Anorectal Diseases.
In September 2006, Dr. Shao studied at the Colorectal and Pelvic Floor Disease Center of KH St. Elisabeth Hospital in Vienna, Austria. From October to November 2006, he pursued further studies at the Minimally Invasive Surgery Center of Tubingen University Hospital in Germany. In June 2007, he was invited to attend the 2nd World Congress on Colorectal and Pelvic Floor Diseases in Rome, Italy.
In June 2009, Dr. Shao received the International Scholarship from the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) for further study in the United States, serving as a visiting scholar at the Cleveland Clinic and the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Dr. Shao was also invited to give an oral presentation at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS).
In 2008, Dr. Shao published one SCI paper in the British Journal of Surgery. In 2009, Dr. Shao published 2 SCI papers in the International Journal of Colorectal Diseases, which were included in the 2nd and 3rd editions of the ASCRS Colorectal Surgery Textbook. Additionally, he has published more than ten papers in the Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery.
