Biographical sketch
Dr. FANG Xiangqian graduated from Zhejiang University in 2002 and obtained an M.D. in surgery from Zhejiang University School of Medicine with over 20 years of experience in clinical practice, teaching, and research work in orthopedics. He went for exchanges and learning in minimally invasive spine techniques at Augsburg Medical Center in Germany and Loma Linda University Medical Center in the United States. Dr. Fang specializes in minimally invasive techniques such as endoscopy and small incisions for treating cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc herniation, spinal stenosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis, osteoporotic fractures, spinal fractures, spinal infections, and other spinal diseases. He is particularly skilled in anterior cervical fusion, percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD, PEID), and minimally invasive lumbar fusion techniques (MIS-TLIF, OLIF). His team's innovative techniques in anterior thoracolumbar approaches and lumbar interbody fusion have been published as tutorials in the Chinese Journal of Orthopedics. Dr. Fang contributed to the development of guidelines for oblique lateral lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) and his team is the sole training center for OLIF technology in China. He has received numerous awards including the First Prize in Zhejiang Province's Scientific and Technological Progress, the First Prize in Medical and Health Science and Technology Innovation in Zhejiang Province, and the Second Prize in Zhejiang Province Science and Technology Award. He has led four projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and published over 30 SCI papers as a corresponding author in journals such as Nature Communications and Science Advances.
