Sir Run Run Shaw and Mrs Mona Shaw

The Shaw Foundation has been a devoted and long-term supporter of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital (SRRSH), providing unwavering care and contributions over the years. In the 1980s, Sir Run Run Shaw donated HKD 100 million and USD 4 million worth of medical equipment to establish the hospital. Playing a pivotal role in SRRSH's foundation, he was deeply involved in the hospital's site selection and architectural design, actively coordinating and resolving key challenges during its establishment. Following the hospital's opening, he visited three times to personally guide and support its development.

Lady Mona Shaw also played an indispensable role, offering crucial assistance and strategic guidance during pivotal phases of the hospital's growth. Her multiple visits underscored her deep care and dedication to the hospital.

In 2024, marking SRRSH's 30th anniversary, The Shaw Foundation reaffirmed its commitment with a RMB 100 million donation to support the hospital's advancement. As a token of gratitude,  Tower 6 in SRRSH's Qingchun Campus was formally named as Lady Mona Shaw Building”— a tribute to Sir Run Run Shaw and Lady Mona Shaw's profound legacy of elevating medical excellence in China and inspiring global healthcare innovation.
