Overview
The Department of Dermatology and Venereology at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital (SRRSH), established in 1994, provides a comprehensive program of clinical services at Qingchun, Qiantang, Grand Canal, and Shaoxing campuses and offers academic training for medical school students and residencies. The department is also engaged in cutting-edge medical research. The department serves over 250,000 outpatients annually. The faculty is comprised of 5 Chief Physicians/Professors, 6 Deputy Chief Physicians, 4 Physicians-in-charge, 9 Resident Physicians, and 2 Technicians-in-charge. All the physicians earned Master's degrees or Doctor's degrees at home or abroad. Many of them have been trained in Germany, Australia, and the United States for clinical and scientific research. We have academic cooperation with several dermatology departments at world-renowned hospitals or colleges, including Mayo Clinic in the United States, Loma Linda University in the United States, the University of Wisconsin in the United States, and the Dermatology Hospital of Kiel University in Germany. The Cosmetic Dermatology & Laser Center under the department has been run for over two decades, providing high-quality laser and cosmetic procedures for patients with state-of-the-art laser technology. Additionally, we have specialized programs across a broad range of settings such as specialty clinics for allergic diseases, acne, psoriasis, biologics therapy, alopecia, skin cancer, bullous diseases and photodynamic therapy. And we are actively engaged in dozens of clinical trials.
Technical advantages
Our department has established a series of specialized clinics, which are proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of common dermatological diseases and Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Infectious dermatological diseases, Inflammatory dermatological diseases, Autoimmune diseases, Vascular disorders, Pigmentary diseases, Vesiculobullous diseases, Neoplasms of the skin, as well as difficult and rare diseases. In 2002, we established the first Cosmetic Dermatology & Laser Center in Zhejiang Province, introducing advanced treatments such as intense pulsed light therapy, hydro-injection, micro-needle radiofrequency for acne and scar management, and micro-needle radiofrequency combined with Miradry therapy for axillary odor control. At the same time, the department also carries out the diagnosis of dermatopathology independently.

Research achievements
The Dermatology Department is a pioneer in the hospital for possessing an independent Principal Investigator (PI) laboratory. Professor CHENG Hao and her research team are at the forefront of research into skin diseases and sexually transmitted diseases, focusing on the pathogenesis of human papillomavirus infection, gonorrhea, genital herpes, psoriasis, and hair diseases, as well as the pathogenic mechanisms and interventions for immune-related conditions. The department has led over 20 projects funded by the National Natural Science Fund and more than 10 projects funded by the provincial Natural Science Foundation. Our scholarly contributions include over 100 academic papers published in prestigious journals such as British Journal of Dermatology, Journal of Virology, and Virology. We have secured 3 invention patents and have been honored with the second and third prizes of the Zhejiang Province Science and Technology Progress Award, along with an outstanding collective award for achievements in drug safety governance and technological innovation. Our department has spearheaded more than 80 clinical trials, with project funding consistently ranking among the top three in the hospital.
