Biographical sketch
Dr. PENG Shuyou, Professor of Surgery at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine and Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital. He has been practicing medicine and teaching for 67 years and is still working on the clinical frontline. He served as the former judge for the National Highest Science and Technology Award and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize.
Dr. Peng’s academic contributions include 782 published research papers and 17 patents. He delivered more than 90 special reports at international conferences. Twenty-six of Dr. Peng’s mentored doctoral students became doctoral supervisors and five were awarded the Yangtze River Scholar title.
He was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2004, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2006, a Fellow of the European College of Surgeons in 2009, and an Honorary Fellow of the French College of Surgeons in 2015.
He served as a judge for the National Science and Technology Award, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Award, and the Wu Jieping Medical Award. His awards and honors include the Top 10 Medical Leaders of 2021, 2022 People's Famous Doctor Award, National May 1st Labor Medal, three National Science and Technology Second Prizes (one for invention, Ho Leung Ho Lee Award, International Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Society Outstanding Achievement Award, Outstanding Contribution Award for Pancreatic Surgery, Biliary Tract Oncology Lifetime Achievement Award, Chinese Society of Surgeons Award, 2024 Wu Jieping Medical Award, Wu Mengchao Hepatobiliary Surgery Award (2002), and Lifetime Achievement Award for Chinese Hepatobiliary Surgery.
