The Beginning of Autumn arrives while the heat is still lingering—China remains in the midst of Sanfu, the hottest time of the year from July 20 to August 18 in China. Coolness may not be around the corner, but traces of the next harvest season will soon be underway. Nature is waiting for its golden transformation.
Health tips from our Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physician:
Nourish Lung Yin: In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), autumn is associated with dryness, which can harm the lungs. You may experience dryness in the skin, respiratory system, and an increased tendency for nosebleeds. To support the lungs, prioritize Yin-nourishing food such as pears, lotus root, white fungus, and honey.
Prevent Heatstroke: This solar term is still during the peak of summer heat. It's important to take measures to prevent heatstroke, such as wearing a hat, applying sunscreen during outdoor activities. Be sure to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Protect the Spleen and Stomach: The lingering summer heat and dampness can affect the spleen and stomach. Using moxibustion on ST-36 can help promote digestion and eliminate excess dampness. Although the weather remains hot, with the arrival of the late summer season, it's advisable to gradually reduce the intake of iced drinks.
