The future of liver cancer care is intelligent.

The era of “one-size-fits-all” treatment is ending. Professor Cai Xiujun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital Affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine (SRRSH), highlights a massive shift: We are moving from reliance on human experience alone to Data-Driven & AI-Empowered precision medicine.

Intelligent Empowerment is rewriting the rules of the “Diagnosis-Treatment-Management” journey:

Smarter Diagnosis:

AI deep learning doesn't just see what we see—it sees more. It analyzes a wide range of data (e.g., radiology, adiomics) to detect tiny lesions invisible to the human eye and even predict cancer risk before it fully develops.

Beyond the Biopsy:

The gold standard for liver cancer diagnosis is evolving. Digital pathology now extracts morphological clues to predict gene mutations and prognosis. And with liquid biopsies powered by high-throughput proteomics and machine learning, we can detect liver cancer earlier than ever, overcoming the limits of traditional markers like AFP. A true breakthrough in early diagnosis.

Precision Treatment:

AI-driven Clinical Decision Support Systems build predictive models to tailor treatment options to the individual. In the operating room, VR and AR create a 3D map of the patient’s anatomy. Surgeons can “feel” the liver, map vessels, and calculate residual liver volume—dramatically lowering risk and increasing precision.

Technology isn't replacing doctors; it's giving them superhuman eyes and data-driven instincts. This is true individualized care.
