
SRRSH-MCCN Asia-Pacific Nursing Training Program is successfully concluded

On July 13, 2025, the SRRSH-MCCN Asia-Pacific Nursing Training Program, hosted by SRRSH (Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine), was concluded in Hangzhou. The conference brought together nursing experts from leading international medical institutions, including Mayo Clinic (USA), Hospital Authority Hong Kong West Cluster, KPJ Healthcare (Malaysia), and Xi’an Gaoxin Hospital, to discuss the development and innovation of nursing in the context of globalization.
During the morning academic session, three nursing experts from Mayo Clinic (USA) delivered lectures in tandem through collaborative presentations. First, Lisa D. Bungum, Nursing Administrator of Mayo Clinic, and Lisa J. Thoe, Vice Chair of the Department of Nursing, jointly shared cutting-edge practices in Innovative Care Delivery and Education Models. Subsequently, Ms. Lisa Bungum and April Bursiek, Manager for Nursing, systematically elaborated on the classification of digital care platforms, the operational mechanisms of Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) programs, and team collaboration models in their presentation titled Remote Care of the Hospitalized Patient. Finally, Ms. April Bursiek and Ms. Lisa Thoe, in their lecture The Nurses’ Role in Patient Experience and Patient-Centered Care, used a real case study to comprehensively introduce the specific responsibilities of Mayo Clinic nurses in enhancing patient experiences.
Ms. Chen Lihong, Nursing General Manager of the Hong Kong West Cluster under the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, provided a systematic overview of the nursing development framework within Hong Kong’s public healthcare system in her presentation The Hong Kong Hospital Authority Nursing Practice — From Essential to Advanced and Specialized Care. Meanwhile, two nursing experts from KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital (Malaysia) shared innovative practices in healthcare humanistic care from different perspectives: Chief Nursing Officer Sammezah Sam emphasized the importance of humanistic care in cancer treatment in her lecture, The Human Touch in Cancer Care: Nurse Navigators Leading the Way. Deputy Chief Nursing Officer Rozaliza Abu Bakar focused on mental health support for healthcare professionals in her session Empowering Minds: Nursing Innovations in Mental Health Care, highlighting the hospital’s innovative “Leadership-Led Mental Health Workshop” program.
Dr. Cai Xiujun, President of SRRSH, emphasized that the advancement of modern nursing is not only about professional innovation but also the deep integration of management wisdom and humanistic care. Dr. Eric J. Moore, medical director, International at Mayo Clinic, noted the close connection between SRRSH’s values—“Give you Sincerity, Confidence, and Love”— and Mayo Clinic’s institutional primary value, “The needs of the patient come first.”
“Nothing, not even mountains and oceans, can separate people with shared goals and vision.” The program, leveraging the platform established by the MCCN Chief Nursing Officer Affinity Group, has provided an international perspective and innovative ideas to promote regional nursing collaboration. Looking ahead, high-quality academic collaborations in quality improvement, talent development, leadership and governance, and professional advancement will further drive nursing excellence across the Asia-Pacific region.
