Welcome to the 22th episode of 24 Solar Terms & Health!

End of Heat, as its name implies, marks the end of the burning hot weather, although many a place in southern China is still under hot waves. The cicadas keep singing, but their song feels different now not a protest against the heat, but a farewell to it.

Health tips from our Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physician:

Guard Against Morning and Evening Chill: While daytime temperatures may still be warm, mornings and evenings can become cooler. Layer your clothing to adapt to temperature fluctuations and prevent catching a cold. Focus on protecting the feet, abdomen, and shoulders first. However, avoid wearing heavy clothing all over the body.

Try Cupping Therapy: If you're starting to experience a cold, with symptoms like nasal congestion and a headache, consider cupping therapy at the acupoint DU14 to relieve these symptoms.

Control Your Weight: In the past, it was advised to gain some weight in autumn to prepare for winter. But with today's improved conditions, it's important to avoid excessive intake of nutrients. Opt for lighter, more protein-rich foods such as fish, chicken, and duck, which are more easily digestible and refreshing.
