The SRRSH Department of Medical Oncology is the earliest medical oncology department established in Zhejiang Province. It has developed into a nationally renowned tumor diagnosis and treatment center with comprehensive strength. It is an important training base for medical oncology talents in Zhejiang province with a well-qualified professional team. Through multi-level and all-round cooperation with Mayo Clinic, the Department of Medical Oncology provides international authoritative medical consultation for cancer patients. As one of the earliest units to carry out radiofrequency ablation of tumors in China, the department has accumulated rich experience in the radiofrequency treatment of tumors in special and difficult parts such as the lungs and liver near the top of the diaphragm. The department has undertaken more than 400 international and domestic multi-center drug clinical studies, providing more professional medical care and more diversified treatment options for cancer patients.

The Department of Medical Oncology has independent research laboratories and full-time research teams, multiple clinical subprofessional groups and research platforms for the mechanism of drug resistance of tumors, providing a strong backing for the application of translational medicine research results in the clinic. The department has held several national conferences such as the Annual Meeting of the Professional Committee of Tumor Targeted Therapy of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and the China Conference on Tumor Nutrition and Comprehensive Therapy, which have been recognized and respected by the industry.

Medical Oncology is one of the key specialties of SRRSH. The department has a high-level and professional medical team with rich clinical experience and professional knowledge. The department has separate outpatient, inpatient, day wards and an intravenous chemotherapy center equipped with advanced medical equipment and technologies such as PET-CT and ultrasound/CT-guided tumor ablation therapy. The services provided by the department team cover the diagnosis and treatment of various cancer types, mainly focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory tract tumor, digestive tract tumors, gynecological breast tumors, urogenital system tumors, and bone and soft tissue tumors. At the same time, the department also actively promotes and applies modern tumor treatment means, such as molecular targeted therapy, immunotherapy, etc., to provide patients with more individualized and precise diagnosis and treatment plans.

The medical oncology research team mainly conducts scientific research on tumor pathogenesis, anti-tumor drug resistance mechanism and coping strategy, immunotherapy and accurate delivery of anti-tumor drugs in vivo. So far, the team has been responsible for more than 30 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, 1 National 973 Science and Technology Project, and more than 40 projects funded by the Nature Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province, Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Department, Human Resources and Social Security Department, Health Department, Health and Family Planning Commission, Zhejiang Qianjiang Talent Plan, Central University Project of the Ministry of Education, and Hong Kong Research Grants Council. Team members have published more than 200 SCI papers with the highest impact factor of 41.
