Overview

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at SRRSH, pioneering among the affiliated hospitals of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, is dedicated to enriching the discipline, upholding a path of professional development, and propelling technological innovation. We cultivate top-tier talents in rehabilitation and are at the forefront of shaping new paradigms in clinical rehabilitation practice.

For a decade, our department has been recognized by the Hospital Management Research Institute of Fudan University with a nomination for the "China's Best Reputation Specialty Ranking List", securing a consistent fourth place in East China and the top spot in Zhejiang Province. We are the sole rehabilitation department in Zhejiang ranking within the top five in East China, underscoring our distinguished standing and significant impact in the field.

Our rehabilitation services extend across the Qingchun, Qiantang, and Shuangling campuses, unified under one management system, with 61 dedicated rehabilitation beds. Our team is composed of 24 seasoned rehabilitation physicians, 34 adept rehabilitation therapists, 1 dual-appointed professor, 2 adjunct professors, 1 visiting professor, 2 postdoctoral researchers, and 9 Ph.D. holders, creating a robust and specialized talent structure. As the principal unit of the Zhejiang Provincial Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, we boast a rich academic research background and a relentless pursuit of clinical excellence, all in the service of providing our patients with the most professional and comprehensive rehabilitation care available.

Technical advantages

We offer a full spectrum of rehabilitation programs, including neurological rehabilitation for conditions like stroke, brain trauma, and spinal cord injury; orthopedic rehabilitation for post-surgical joint replacements, limb fractures, and musculoskeletal pain; pelvic floor dysfunction rehabilitation addressing urinary incontinence, retention, organ prolapse, and constipation; perioperative cardiopulmonary rehabilitation; and critical care rehabilitation. Notably, our department leads the nation in the rehabilitation of pelvic floor disorders, musculoskeletal pain, and regenerative medicine therapies.

Research achievements

Since 2003, our department has published over 40 articles, in addition to first-tier core journals, more than 40 SCI articles, with 4 having an Impact Factor (IF) greater than 5.0. From 2003 to the present, we have obtained more than 20 research projects, including 3 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation in 2021, with research funding of over 5 million, 3 invention patents, and 2 third prizes for scientific and technological progress from the Zhejiang Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission. We have edited 5 reference books on rehabilitation medicine and participated in the compilation of more than 10 textbooks on rehabilitation medicine. Each year, we hold 7-8 various workshops (surface electromyography, botulinum toxin, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and pelvic floor rehabilitation).
