
SRRSH - MCCN International Training Course on Hospital Quality Management is held

The “SRRSH - MCCN International Training Course on Hospital Quality Management,” hosted by SRRSH, was held in Hangzhou from May 16 to 17, 2025. We were honored to invite Dr. Sean C. Dowdy, Chief Value Officer at Mayo Clinic, and Dr. Subashnie Devkaran, Chair of Quality and Value at Mayo Clinic, alongside leading experts, renowned scholars, and management professionals in healthcare administration. Through keynote presentations, interactive Q&A sessions, and on-site visits, the conference attracted over 100 participants, including hospital presidents, department directors, and quality control specialists from across the province and beyond.
On the first day of the conference, Professor Cai Xiujun, President of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital (SRRSH), affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and Dr. Sean C. Dowdy delivered opening remarks. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Yu Hong, Vice President of SRRSH.
A highlight of the event was the release of the book The Path to High-Quality Development in Hospitals of Chinese Modernization: Three Decades of Innovation at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, edited by President Cai Xiujun. Co-authored by China’s leading scholars and hospital administrators, this groundbreaking work is the first dedicated study on hospitals of Chinese modernization. Following the launch, President Cai delivered a keynote lecture on “New Quality Productive Forces and High-Quality Hospital Development,” and Dr. Sean C. Dowdy and Dr. Subashnie Devkaran shared insights on topics such as practices for maintaining top rankings, multi-campus collaborative governance, and hospital culture cultivation. Dr. Sean C. Dowdy and Dr. Subashnie Devkaran shared patient value-driven quality improvement strategies, drawing on Mayo Clinic's century-old management expertise. The conference also featured a live Q&A session with active participation and vibrant discussions among attendees.
Day two of the event focused on hospital management practices in China, featuring cutting-edge insights and practical innovations from leading Chinese experts. Covered topics include transformation and emerging trends in hospital management, innovation and practice in SRRSH’s human resource management, SRRSH's practices refined management for high-quality hospital development, internationalization-driven high-quality hospital development, refined medical management for enhancing hospital quality, SRRSH experience in smart outpatient services and management, etc.
This conference marked a milestone in the deepened collaboration between SRRSH and the Mayo Clinic Care Network on healthcare quality management. Serving as a window for the high-quality development of hospitals of Chinese modernization, the event strives to connect and integrate top-tier Chinese and U.S. healthcare management expertise, creating a high-level dialogue platform that blends global vision with localized practice.
