Exploring the frontiers of robotic surgery together to advance high-quality healthcare

The “2025 Annual Conference of the Robotic Surgery Branch of Zhejiang Medical Doctors Association,” hosted by the branch and organized by Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, was held from September 5 to 7, 2025, at the QingchunCampus. The conference brought together leading experts from various surgical fields across China. Through lectures, live surgery demonstrations, live porcine simulation training for robotic surgery, and skill competitions for young physicians, the event facilitated in-depth discussions on the latest progress and clinical practices in robotic surgery. Over 360 medical professionals from within and outside Zhejiang Province were attracted, along with nearly 50 international students.

In addition to the main forum, the conference featured eight sub-forums focusing on robotic hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, robotic gastrointestinal surgery, robotic thoracic surgery, robotic gynecological surgery, robotic pediatric surgery, robotic operating room nursing, minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of colorectal tumors, and precision treatment of gastrointestinal tumors, respectively. These sessions highlighted technological innovations and clinical applications of robotic surgery across various specialties.

During the conference, a continuing education workshop on robotic colorectal surgery offered hands-on animal surgery training, live surgery broadcasts, and theoretical instruction. A robotic skills competition for young physicians was also held, as a platform for emerging surgeons to showcase their expertise and enhance their surgical capabilities.

Prof. Yu Hong, President of the Robotic Surgery Branch and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of SRRSH, emphasized that robotic surgery, as a cutting-edge example of modern medical technology, is reshaping surgical practices with unprecedented depth and breadth. In the future, the Robotic Surgery Branch of the Zhejiang Medical Doctors Association will continue to deepen technical exchanges and explore further integration of robotics with 5G remote operation and intelligent autonomous systems.
