The Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of SRRSH, founded in 1994, is a comprehensive department combining medical treatment, teaching and scientific research, supported by an integrated professional team. It has a doctorate in surgery program of Zhejiang University School of Medicine the 3rd School of Clinical Medicine. Distributed in Qingchun, Qiantang, Grand Canal and Shaoxing Campuses, the department receives more than 320,000 outpatient visits and performs over 8000 operations on average annually. It owns 100-odd licensed beds and domestically first-class, fully equipped advanced medical equipment.

Thanks to the platform of Zhejiang University and the direct cooperation with Loma Linda Medical Center and Mayo Clinic in the United States, it has set up one center and three clinical sub-specialties and has become a well-known large-scale healthcare unit in Zhejiang Province. The department now has 51 staff members, 14 of whom are senior professional technicians, 11 of whom have obtained doctoral degrees and 22 master's degrees. Nearly half of the doctors have studied in European and American countries. The department is well-structured in terms of team members' academic achievements, fueled further by strong technical support. With increasing momentum, it endeavors to become a first-class center integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research at home and a renowned one abroad.

The department has set up one center and three clinical sub-specialties and has become a well-known large-scale healthcare unit in Zhejiang Province. The center and the three clinical sub-specialties are as follows:

Sino-American Joint Head, Neck and Maxillofacial Tumor Center: surgical treatment and repair for middle-advanced head, neck, oral and maxillofacial tumors and upper laryngopharyngeal and esophageal mediastinum tumors.

Otology: diagnosis and treatment of otopathy, deafness clinic, vertigo and vestibular disease clinic, otology microsurgery, and inner ear surgery.

Rhinology: naso-sinusitis clinic, minimally invasive nasal endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery, and surgical treatment for nose and eye related diseases.

Laryngology, head and neck surgery: voice clinic, voice diseases and dysphagia clinic, vocal cord microsurgery, snoring clinic, various types of OSAS surgery, and surgical treatment of complicated head and neck malignant tumors and skull base tumors.

Since 2010, the department has undertaken 6 projects from the Department of Science and Technology of Zhejiang province, one major research project, and one National Natural Science Foundation project; it has published dozens of papers in domestic and international academic journals.
