Overview
After more than 30 years of construction and development, the Department of Ultrasound of SRRSH has now become an ultrasound diagnosis and treatment center integrating medical treatment, scientific research, and teaching. At present, the department has 8 chief physicians, 8 deputy chief physicians, 26 attending physicians, 2 master tutors, 7 doctoral degree holders, and 92 master's degree holders. It has a team of 176 doctors, nurses and researchers. The department currently has about 100 sets of ultrasound diagnostic equipment, including GE LOGIQ E20, GE Voluson E10, GE Vivid E95, Philips EPIQ Elite, Philips EPIQ 7C, Philips EPIQ 7, Mindray R9 and other advanced color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic instruments, which are distributed in 87 rooms of Qingchun, Qiantang, Grand Canal, Shaoxing and Shuangling campuses. There are 5 standardized ultrasound intervention rooms, equipped with precise intervention technology platforms such as virtual fusion navigation. The department has a full range of sub-specialties, covering all directions in the field of ultrasound in medicine, which are mainly divided into abdominal ultrasound, superficial ultrasound, cardiovascular ultrasound, obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound, and interventional ultrasound. Another sub-specialty includes gastrointestinal ultrasound, musculoskeletal ultrasound, peripheral vascular ultrasound, fetal echocardiography, and reproductive ultrasound. As of 2023, the department's annual diagnosis and treatment cases are about 1.5 million, and the annual interventional ultrasound diagnosis and treatment cases are more than 20,000. The department has a vigorous, united, cooperative and technically strong professional team, with advanced equipment and excellent services, which lay a solid foundation for the continuous and in-depth development of the discipline.
Technical advantages
Up till now, the specialty diagnosis and treatment projects carried out by each sub-specialty group in our department mainly include:
Abdominal ultrasound: Contrast-enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS), Elastography, and Gastrointestinal Ultrasound.
Superficial ultrasound: Refined Evaluation of Thyroid and Breast Diseases, Elastography of Superficial organs, and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.
Cardiovascular ultrasound: Real-time Three-dimensional Transesophageal Echocardiography (RT-3D TEE), Intraoperative Transesophageal Echocardiography, Fetal Echocardiography, Contrast Echocardiography, and Refined Evaluation of peripheral vascular diseases.
Ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology: Screening of Fetal
Malformation in the First and Second Trimester, and Four-dimensional Hysterosalpingo-contrast-sonography (4D-HyCoSy).
Interventional ultrasound: Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA), Core Needle Biopsy, Drainage, Sclerotherapy for Cyst, Thermal Ablation for Solid Tumor, and Intraoperative Ultrasound.

Research achievements
The department has hosted 5 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and more than 30 provincial-level projects; published more than 300 academic papers; edited and co-edited 16 monographs; won the second prize in the Science and Technology Progress Award of Zhejiang Province.
