It excels in the diagnosis and treatment of lower back pain globally and serves as the OLIF training center for Greater China. The department has established clinical application guidelines for OLIF, and its innovative OLIF-AIP exposure technique has benefited tens of thousands of patients across the Asia-Pacific region. Its comprehensive spinal microsurgical techniques encompass minimally invasive fusion technology (OLIF), MIS-TLIF, endoscopic spine surgery, UBE technology, and small incision anterior cervical fusion, with over 5,000 procedures performed annually. Additionally, it serves as a demonstration base for standardized osteoporosis treatment.
The department possesses robust capabilities in diagnosing and treating sports-related injuries as well as artificial joint replacements. It was the first institution in the province to perform arthroscopic surgeries addressing shoulder and knee joint diseases such as anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair, habitual shoulder dislocation, and biceps tendon transfer for massive rotator cuff repair. These procedures are characterized by minimal trauma, rapid recovery times, favorable outcomes, and high patient satisfaction rates. Furthermore, the department's performance in small incision anterior hip joint replacement and knee joint replacement aligns closely with international standards. It was one of the pioneers in unicompartmental knee replacement within the province. Its surgical techniques are at the forefront of innovation.
Restorative and reconstruction surgery along with hand and foot surgery have emerged as rapidly advancing subspecialties within the SRRSH Department of Orthopedic Surgery in recent years. The department is proficient in diagnosing and treating diabetic foot gangrene, leading both domestically and internationally. It stands out as Zhejiang Province's largest multidisciplinary center dedicated to diabetic foot care. Moreover, it functions as a construction unit under China's Center for Diabetic Foot Alliance while also being an initiator alongside serving on its executive committee chairmanship in Zhejiang Diabetic Foot Alliance. Furthermore, it possesses extensive expertise in the comprehensive management of osteomyelitis, chronic non-healing wounds, reconstruction of complex soft tissue defects, minimally invasive arthroscopic interventions for fractures and injuries of the hand and foot, replantation of amputated limbs and digits, correction of congenital and acquired limb deformities, as well as ultra-microscopic repair techniques for lymphedema following radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
