Cardiac Surgery
Overview
The Department of Cardiac Surgery of SRRSH, founded in 1994, is a comprehensive department combining medical treatment, teaching and scientific research, supported by an integrated professional team. It is responsible for a doctorate in surgery program of Zhejiang University School of Medicine the 3rd School of Clinical Medicine. Distributed in Qingchun, Qiantang, Grand Canal and Shaoxing Campuses, the department receives more than 10,000 outpatient visits and performs over 800 operations on average annually. It owns 50-odd licensed beds and domestically first-class, fully equipped advanced medical equipment.
Thanks to the platform of Zhejiang University and the direct cooperation with Loma Linda Medical Center and Mayo Clinic in the United States, it has set up one center and three clinical sub-specialties and has become a well-known large-scale healthcare unit in Zhejiang Province. The department now has 22 staff members, 2 of whom are senior professional technicians, 5 of whom have obtained doctoral degrees and 14 master's degrees. Nearly half of the doctors have studied in European and American countries. The department is well-structured in terms of team members' academic achievements, fueled further by strong technical support. With increasing momentum, it endeavors to become a first-class center integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research at home and a renowned one abroad.

Research achievements
Since 2010, the department has undertaken 2 projects from the Department of Science and Technology of Zhejiang province, and one project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, one major research project; it has published 20 papers in domestic and international academic journals.
