The Radiology department of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital is a Key discipline of the Zhejiang Province, and a national resident training base. It has been granted approval for awarding doctorate and masters level qualifications, with 3 doctoral supervisors and 2 masters supervisors. Notably, the department has a 2014 East China Hospital Radiology Department Reputation Ranking. We have advanced medical imaging machines from GE,Siemens, Philips, Shimadzu and United Imaging, including 8 CT, 7 MR, 2 DSA and 13 DR machines. In particular, the Siemens Flash CT, Force CT, GE 3.0T 750W, GE Signa 3.0T HDx and Siemens 3.0T Skyra are outstanding in image quality and post processing, providing a strong platform for diagnosis, treatment and research.
Within our department, there are 21 staff with high professional titles, majoring in different sub-specialties, including cardiac-thoracic-mammary imaging, body imaging, neuro-musculoskeletal imaging, and interventional treatment. As well as the routine examinations, we have established some new standardized procedures, including: carotid plaque MR imaging, gouty tophi dual-energy CT scan, anal canal MR imaging, rectal cancer MRI DCE examination and cardiac imaging. We also perform a multitude of interventional diagnosis and treatments.
As a department, we place a strong emphasis on research projects. Our achievements include: one national 863 project, one 973 project, one ‘Key Project in the National Science & Technology Pillar Program during the Twelfth Five-year Plan Period’, five national natural science foundations, one Zhejiang province natural foundation outstanding team project, one Zhejiang province major special project and 5 Zhejiang province science and technology projects.
In our department, there is one professor from National ‘Thousand Talent Program’, Dr.Xiaoming Yang, and three visiting professors: Dr.Weiping Wang (Mayo Clinic), Dr. Chi-Shing Zee (USC), and Professor Thomas Flohr (Siemens).We have periodical academic communication with Loma Linda Medical Center, Mayo Clinic, Washington University School of Medicine, Columbia University, Japanese Ritsumeikan University and Kaohsiung Taiwan university.
Our department has established long-term cooperation with some related specialties, such as computer information, including Pro.Huafeng Liu (College of information, Zhejiang University), Fro.Youqing Shen (Department of Chemistry, Zhejiang University) and Pro.Lanfen Lin (School of computer and technology, Zhejiang University). We have also constructed a mass data lab in association with Hangzhou Jianpei Science and Technology limited Company.
The department constructed an independent and precise Molecular imaging Lab in 2012. Currently, we have three biomed central principal investigator assistants. Last year, we published 15 SCI papers（IF>3: 6, IF>5: 3, max IF=5.6).
