In the era of globalization, in response to the epidemic of the new crown epidemic, it is urgently necessary to help each other to overcome the hardship, and work together to pull up the most stringent prevention and control network to pass across the maze of epidemic. SRRSH has been in action.


Share China’s experience with WHO

Since the outbreak, under the guidance of hospital leaders, CIC actively contacted the World Health Organization (WHO), and assist hospital experts to share SRRSH’s medical plan to the world. Dr. Cai Xiujun, the president of SRRSH, has presented the experience of the whole-process innovation management in the field of anti-epidemic to WHO. Currently, this material has been shared in WHO headquarters and the Western Pacific Region, which has gained full affirmation by WHO experts. At the invitation of WHO, Dr. Ge Huiqing, director of the Department of Respiratory Therapy of SRRSH, has been participating in the discussion of COVID-19 by telephone conference every Friday, and sharing the experience with doctors in the United States, Italy, and the Netherlands respectively.

 

Reaching hands to the "Belt and Road" countries

The Health Human Resources Development Center (HHRDC) of the National Health Commission established the “Belt and Road” National Anti-Epidemic Platform-“Chinese Knowledge Base in Response to the COVID-19 Outbreak”. As the deputy chairman of the “Belt and Road” Medical Talents Training Alliance, SRRSH participated into this platform to introduce relevant guidelines, diagnosis and treatment plans, technical specifications, research results and clinical treatment experience of domestic epidemic prevention and control to the "Belt and Road" countries. On April 17, an international exchange meeting on China's anti-epidemic experience led by the Center for International Knowledge of Development, the Inter-American Development Bank, and HHRDC invited SRRSH medical experts to share Chinese anti-epidemic practices and experiences. "Overcoming the epidemic, talents-oriented", Dr. Yu Hong, the vice president of our hospital, delivered speech as a deputy guest at Hospitals Key Discipline Training Experience Exchange which organized by HHRDC, to share the experience of anti-epidemic.

 

Build an international exchange platform

In mid-to-early March, SRRSH participated in constructing Dingding’s “SRRSH Medical International Doctor Exchange Platform” project, focusing on sharing experience in combating epidemics to front-line doctors and nurses around the world, and undertaking international responsibilities and obligations. At present, nearly 50 frontline clinical experts of SRRSH have participated into this program. Through remote consultations, remote discussions, and real-time communication, etc., over the past few days, they have shared anti-epidemic experience to more than frontline 60 doctors and nurses in 25 countries and regions around the world, and completed more than 150 online consultations.

 

Leading the establishment of the Global Alumni Support Platform of Zhejiang University

On April 9, under the direction and support of the leaderships of Zhejiang University, SRRSH established a WeChat consulting service group for Overseas Alumni Association of Zhejiang University. As a leading management department, CIC invited 12 professional experts from the hospital to provide alumni with free medical consultation, health information, psychological support and other necessary service. On the day the platform was launched, alumni from various countries including Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, and the Netherlands came to consult, and expressed their appreciation to SRRSH for helping them through the difficult times.

 

Overseas Donations

On April 9, the total of 25 boxes of medical supplies, including 20,000 surgical masks and 600 pieces of surgical gowns, which donated by SRRSH, was sent to Shizuoka General Hospital, Japan. At present, the Shizuoka General Hospital in Japan has received the donated items and converted it into a letter of thanks. Next, the hospital will give back urgently needed materials to Mayo Clinic and Loma Linda University. In addition to rebates, hospital employees also actively donate materials through third-party institutions. For example, the chairman of the CSCO Tumor Nutrition Therapy Expert Committee and Professor Pan Hongming from the Department of Oncology at SRRSH called on the Institute to jointly support Italian in fighting against the epidemic and donated 50,000 medical masks that meet the quality requirements for the Rome University, which is in urgent need of protective equipment.

 

Concerned about the health of foreign patients in Zhejiang

As an international hospital, SRRSH cares about the physical and mental health of domestic patients, but also cares about the health of foreign friends in Zhejiang. Through its English website platform, the hospital regularly publishes publicity articles on English subjects and builds an English health information library. Meanwhile, to exert its own advantages, International Health Center strictly performs all prevention and control work, and has provided high-quality medical services to more than 400 foreign patients during the epidemic. At the same time, public welfare services were carried out during the epidemic, and free medical services were provided to 350 foreign patients through remote communication such as telephone and mail.

 

Start new scientific research project in cooperation with world-renowned universities

At present, with the gradual improvement of the domestic epidemic situation, SRRSH’s work in various fields is also in full swing. In addition to the existing cooperative institutions such as Mayo Clinic and Roma Linda University, we have gradually resumed regular cooperative projects. On this basis, on May 14, SRRSH and Stanford University conducted the first remote video conference after the epidemic. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the cooperation between this two institutes on the artificial intelligence research project. There was a lively discussion on the details of the project, and the relevant participants of SRRSH gave professional advice from the perspective of clinical practice.

 

At the meeting, Dr. Hu Hongjie, director of the Radiology Department, combined with the radiology department's experience and experience in cross-cooperation between artificial intelligence and medical industry in recent years, discussed his opinions and suggestions on this topic, and pointed out that this is a significant exploration and innovation in combing AI in the field of interventional medicine, if we integrate the strengths of China and the United States in this field, it will be a very meaningful cooperation. Dr. Qian Xiang, director of the Department of International Medicine at Stanford University, said SRRSH has a unique international perspective and is an open, advanced, and professional international hospital. This is also why Stanford University chose SRRSH as the next important international partner. At present, the two sides have established a good cooperative relationship in talent exchange and training, and hope to continue to strengthen cooperation and deepen friendship in many fields such as scientific research and teaching in the future.

 

Enhance overseas hospital brand awareness

From April 15th to 16th, a group of 6 people from Day Dawn which broadcast on Japan's TV station came to SRRSH to interview and film. The director of the Shanghai branch of Tokyo TV personally participated in the two-day filming. The main purpose of the filming was to understand the construction of the full-chain innovative prevention and control system of SRRSH and interview with people from all fronts of the hospital's anti-epidemic work. At the end of the filming, Director Sugeno Yohei expressed the appreciation to SRRSH for supporting the filming, and expressed his admiration and praise for SRRSH’s actions and efforts in fighting the epidemic. After the program was broadcast in Japan on April 28th, the social response was particularly good. Japanese people praised the outstanding epidemic prevention and treatment of Chinese hospitals represented by SRRSH and the selfless efforts of medical staff! The Chinese embassy in Japan will send a special letter to Tokyo TV to express its gratitude! With the help of world-renowned media, SRRSH's brand awareness has improved to a higher level while contributing to China's anti-epidemic diplomacy.
