Colon and Rectal Surgery
Overview
Established in 2004, the SRRSH Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery, serves as the Chair Unit for the Colorectal Disease Committee of the Zhejiang Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, as well as the Colorectal Tumor Committee of the Zhejiang Medical Association. The department operates under a unified management system across four campuses: Qingchun, Qiantang, Dayunhe, and Shaoxing. The department has a highly qualified team, including five chief physicians, seven deputy chief physicians, two doctoral supervisors, and three master's supervisor. Under the leadership of Dr. Huang Xuefeng, the department has achieved significant clinical and research milestones.
Technical advantages
The department is guided by the principles of "minimally invasive surgery, pain-free procedures, and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS)". It specializes in the diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of colorectal and anal diseases, including colorectal cancer, hemorrhoids, anal fistulas, anal fissures, inflammatory bowel diseases, and constipation. The department has extensive experience in treating complex colorectal conditions. In recent years, the department has treated nearly 70,000 patients annually and performed over 1,200 colorectal tumor surgeries each year, with more than 90% of these surgeries being minimally invasive. It is one of the leading institutions in Zhejiang Province in terms of the proportion of minimally invasive colorectal surgeries. Additionally, the department has pioneered the use of robotic laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgeries in Zhejiang province and remains the top-performing institution, completing 495 robotic colorectal surgeries in 2023.
